Moe is still my favorite Professor if not teach ever. After I put on this event with Scallywompus, the undesirable "Partnership" ended and I lost being part of this event unfortunately. It was actually a very dirty, embarrassing experience. But that is what greed does. When Moe organized this event, he took zero profit and it had benefited a number of charities. I should have know when Bart did not want to continue that tradition is was a red flag...
From this experience I learned that with event, I always want to focus on community and contribution. I am Thankful to still have the passion to put on events and the know how. I am working on resources and the best way to continue, but that is the art and science of event production.
I will always respect and honor Moe and his legacy. I hope to have the opportunity to redeem the loss of his event to greed. I can not control others action. I can only move forward with positivity and unconditional contribution to our area events and causes.

What the Legacy of Moe Johnson means to Nick to the Plus? My first experience with Professor Johnson was in Exercise Science Class at Texas State University. I will never forget, you know how a lot of teachers stand up at the board and proclaim they don't know how to draw so they draw stick figures? NOT MOE! He started to give a lesson on muscles and he went up to the board and drew perfectly symmetrical to scale arm muscles. It blew my mind!
I had Moe for a couple of different classes through my college career. I would go visit a number of professors during office hours for help or understanding. As I would visit Moe, he would tell me stories, stories of his adventures in life. As I recall, Moe has been a- Powerlifter, a High Dive Performer, a Marathoner, a Race Director, a Professor... Best of all Moe is a great friend and mentor.
Another great memory of my days with Moe at Texas State is that he taught Adaptive PE. This class and his knowledge on the topic really opened my eyes to a new world. What I learned is that there are so many ways to adapt activities for people with limited abilities. To this day, I am extremely motivated by adaptive athletes and what they accomplish, in addition to the drive they have not to give up. Moe started this passion in me. He also taught my son's mother adaptive PE when he was in her belly, so River and Moe go way back!
This morning I ran the Final Moe's Better Half Marathon. I had run it 2-3 or three times before. I wasn't really ready to race, had only run a max of 6 miles and two days a week in the last two months, but I wasn't going to miss this one! Moe has lived a mountain of a man's life, even though he is still healthy and mentally strong, the end of this era makes us all face the fact we are mere mortals. Sometimes I think the running community is immortal, I have been running for 25 years and all my running family in San Antonio, New Braunfels, San Marcos and Austin seem not to age, but I guess we do. Moe has been an icon and inspiration in this great community of running.
I commit to continuing Moe's legacy as best I can and within his wishes. Scallywompus plans to continue the event (to be named, Moe's Better Half will be retired). Part of the soul of the event will be lost but the runners bring the other magical side of the soul. The legacy I want to continue also is Moe's passion for adaptive activity. With a strong mind and desire, we can accomplish anything. Thank you Moe for all you have done for so many people and being in my life.
